Collaborative decision deposits

Share the deposit that brings a referendum to a vote. Contribute together, then recover your share after it ends, unless governance kills it.

From contributions to a vote.

01 · FUNDPay in together. You can withdraw while the pool is open, before the deposit is placed.
02 · PLACEThe final payment tries to place the whole deposit. If it fails, anyone can retry.
03 · RETURNAfter the referendum ends, anyone can reclaim the deposit and send the payouts back to the contributing accounts.

Understand the risk

A killed referendum loses the deposit. Contract bugs can also put funds at risk. Fork tests pass and placement works on Paseo, but a public-network refund and independent review are still outstanding.

Repayment needs a transaction

Nothing runs automatically when a referendum ends. Anyone can use this page to reclaim and pay out. No watcher is running yet. Network fees are additional and are not refunded by the pool.

Why share a decision deposit?

Governance takes the deposit from one account. Kusama's Wish for Change track requires 666.67 KSM. Pooling lets several people or groups fund that account together, without handing custody to a sponsor. Each pool is fixed to one referendum, has no owner and cannot be upgraded.

If funding falls short, contributors can withdraw. After the deadline, anyone can close the pool and start payouts.

Earlier discussions and proposals

The idea has a history: Moonbeam's 2023 discussion, a 2024 decision deposit track proposal, and RFC 151 on crowdsourced deposits. This experiment uses a contract on Asset Hub without changing governance.

Paying from a Polkadot account or a multisig

Use revive.call on Kusama Asset Hub. Set dest to the pool contract, value to your contribution in planck (1 KSM is 1,000,000,000,000), and data to 0xd7bb99ba. To withdraw while the pool is open, use value 0 and data 0x3ccfd60b. Refunds return to the contributing account.
